Barcelona’s Gerard Pique buys a football club

Pique moving into the world of football club ownership

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique will shortly complete the purchase of a football club as he plans for life after his footballing career.

The defender has had an illustrious career at the Camp Nou and is still one of the top defenders in European football.

Having won one Premier League, one World Cup, one European Championship, four Champions League’s and many more trophies, he will go down as one of the most decorated footballers of this generation.

However, he is now looking to secure his life after football by investing in business opportunities.

It has previously been reported that Pique had explored the world of electronic sports and had founded a European eSports league for popular game Pro Evolution Soccer.

Now, it’s been revealed that he is buying a football club.

Gerard Pique – Owner of FC Andorra

Reports from Diari d’Andorra, as cited by Football Espana, claim that Pique will purchase Spanish fifth tier side FC Andorra.

According to them, the defender will take advantage of a new footballing law to take ‘a controlling role in the club’.

He will purchase that controlling stake through his company Kosmos.

For those who know nothing about FC Andorra, they currently reside in the Primera Catalana division.

They also played in the third tier of Spanish football between 1980 and 1998.

Safe to say, Pique will be looking to use his footballing expertise to take the club up the divisions, much like the class of 92 have tried to do with Salford.
